Dear Business Owner/Manager,
The Cole Harbour Rural Heritage Society (CHRHS) will be hosting its seventh annual dinner auction in support of the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum on April 14th, 2012. This event, which has become a very popular and much anticipated social occasion, will again be held at the Brightwood Golf & Country Club in Dartmouth. Last year we had a full house of approximately 160 guests and raised more than $24,000 in support of the Farm Museum. We expect this year’s event to be equally successful and are hopeful that you may be able to support us in this endeavor by donating an item for the auction.
The CHRHS is a not-for-profit society which relies primarily on community support to maintain and operate the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum. This community museum was founded in 1978 and over the years, with the help of many volunteers and supporters, has grown to include a comprehensive collection of local farm, household and personal artifacts and local archival material including oral history recordings and hundreds of photographs and documents.
The Museum is also a real farm with a garden (cultivated continuously for 200 years!) and goats, sheep, cows, pigs and poultry. Each year we welcome hundreds of local school children and other visitors who can experience a way of life that perhaps only their grandparents can remember. The Museum provides educational programming, offers hands on learning opportunities for children, is a centre for cultural exchange, connects us to our food and keeps small scale farming just a stone’s throw away from the urban communities who depend on it. We believe that the Cole Harbour Heritage Farm Museum is an important part of the fabric of our community and we are dedicated to its continued success.
Any support that you can give us is greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for your help and generosity. If you have any questions or would like more information or tickets please do not hesitate to call me or our executive director, Janice Kirkbright, at 434-0222.
Sincerely,
Alan E. Mitchell, Chair
